Stepping into this new year, I reflect on where I am and where I want to go.
I am in a place of contentment, of potential, of freedom – freedom from worry, from doubt, from anxiety. A place of confidence in my talent. A place of knowing that I am worthy of respect and of love. A place of security. A place of discernment. A place from where I can help and support others. A place where I can be brave, which by definition also means a place where I am vulnerable. A place where I can live, I can work, I can play, I can rest and I can find joy in all of those things. A place where I am healing. A place of warmth, of comfort, and also of stimulus and curiosity. A place to venture out from and a place to return to.
A place to belong.
Stepping into this new year, I am stepping away from all the old ones. There has been so much letting go, now is the time to start embracing. Space has been cleared, and opened, and now waits to be filled again.
I want 2022 to be a year of poetry and romance and I intend to make it so. I have delved deep to find myself and cleared away the rubble of past lives. I look around and find that I like the new landscape I find myself in and I commit to adventuring within it and beyond it.
I commit to journeying again, outwardly and inwardly.
I commit to exploring these islands we call home.
I commit to going ever deeper into the knowledge that is being handed to me.
I commit to correcting the neglect of my physical self and nursing me back to health.
I commit to writing every day – to taking the time to really look at what is around me, and try to truly see it, to look closely, and also to gaze upon wide horizons. And to shaping my words around both the close & small and the far & huge.
I commit to remaining open: to knowledge, to chance, to serendipity and synchronicity.
I commit to living by my own values.
I commit to the pause between event and response.
I commit to smiling more often.
I commit to joy.
I commit to connection, to being awkward, brave and kind, to being vulnerable.
I commit to practicing daily the disciplines that connect my mind, body & spirit.
I commit to seeking beauty and sharing wisdom.
I commit to being in the arena, not in the stands.
I commit to the work.
I commit to optimism.
I commit to love.
